AWS Committees/Programs The following AWS Committees are currently active: EDUCATIONAL - The Educational Committee is currently sponsoring local classrooms with an animal education program. It is aimed at bringing animal awareness to the younger population in our community. Activities include: classroom newsletters, visits, and programs. SPAY & NEUTER - The spay and neuter program is aimed at controlling the animal population in our community. Each month, AWS works with local veterinarians and pet owners to have pets and strays spayed and neutered. Each year, AWS helps spay and neuter hundreds of animals. Click here for more information FUND RAISING - The fund raising committee is always striving for fun, unique ideas to raise money to help maintain the successful programs that AWS runs. Each program has made significant improvements in the quality of life for thousands of animals in this area. ADOPT-A-PET - The Adopt-a-Pet ads found in the Cumberland Times-News has helped increase the adoption rates at the local animal shelter. Each ad shows a photo of the animal available for adoption and the name or business name of the sponsor. AWS needs local businesses and individuals' backing to continue to make the ads successful.
